"The Activist" is a song about the battle between success and substance abuse. In Ohio, substance abuse is very common. I have had my own struggles with this. I wrote this song when I came back from New Zealand. It was an eye opening experience. In New Zealand, Drug abuse is not common. Is it a coincidence that their streets are cleaner (no litter), their peoples are less violent, and there is a stronger sense of community?
